Do You Believe In Santa Claus?
I love the following site that shares some helpful background info about Saint Nicholas. It has me thinking that Christians should believe in Santa Claus - not in what he's become (a pawn of our consumerist culture) but in what he has meant for centuries of Christ-followers.

It's tragic that the Protestant Movement has divested itself (by and large) from the Saints of the Catholic and Orthodox traditions. Part of the beauty of the Emergent Movement is that we are more free to reclaim some of this ancient-faith that reformation/modernity/enlightenment has stripped.
I shared on Sunday that I had a "secret longing" for Santa to be real and alive today. In the Apostles Creed we claim a belief in the "communion of Saints". How awesome to know that in a mysterious way the rich Christ-following character of St. Nicholas is breaking bread with us!
I can't wait for the Nicholas of Myra movie!
